Absence and Presence: Landscapes, Forensic Traces

Absence and Presence: Landscapes, Forensic Traces

Rooted in the ancient terrain of Gozo and Malta, this body of work treats the landscape as a living archive — a forensic site where history, culture and human experience leave indelible, often invisible marks. It explores the tension between what remains and what has vanished: how absence itself carries powerful presence, and how every texture, shadow and form holds traces of lives, beliefs and stories long gone, yet still woven into the land.

Through rich impasto, layered surfaces and earth-bound colour, JAROME excavates these quiet layers — revealing how we inherit memory through place, and how the past persists, unseen but always present. This series forms the conceptual heart of his practices.

JAROME continues his relationship in the UK with the Little Gallery Lincoln, which holds numerous works of his on display.
